It is estimated that 3-8 percent of populations in developed countries experience serious electrohypersensitivity symptoms, while 35 percent experience mild symptoms, according to Dr. Thomas Rau, medical director of the world-renowned Paracelsus Clinic in Switzerland. Dr. Rau also believes that 'electromagnetic loads' lead to cancer, concentration problems, ADD, tinnitus, migraines, insomnia, arrhythmia, Parkinson's, and even back pain. For people with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome (EHS), just walking into a coffee shop that is WI-FI equipped can be debilitating, triggering a wide array of symptoms including headache, fatigue, nausea, burning and itchy skin, and muscle aches. Some students have to drop out of school or are unable to continue on to graduate programs once they become electrically sensitive, irrespective of their intelligence and capabilities. Even just briefly standing in line at the post office, or traveling on public transportation, can be a debilitating experience for some people, sometimes taking hours to restore balance. According to research by Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, your physical body, such as your body weight, body-mass index, bone density, and water and electrolyte levels can alter the conductivity and biological reactivity to EMFs. Children are also particularly vulnerable. While some of the health effects of the wireless revolution are immediately apparent to sensitive populations, most people seemingly feel fine when using the technology. However, this should not be taken as a guarantee of safety, as some health conditions take years, or even decades, of exposure to develop. The perfect example? Cancer. On May 21, 2011, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a committee of 27 scientists from 14 different countries working on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO), also concluded that exposure to cell phone radiation is a "possible carcinogen" and classified it into the 2B category. This is the same category as the pesticide DDT, lead, gasoline engine exhaust, burning coal, and dry cleaning chemicals, just to name a few. A cluster of cancer cases among young children at Weston Elementary School in Ripon, California, has reignited the conversation about whether the electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation from cell towers might be a contributing factor. In 2016, at the age of 10, Kyle Prime was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Five months later, his classmate, Mason Ferrulli, was diagnosed with brain cancer. This year, two more children at the school have received cancer diagnoses. Three teachers have also been diagnosed with various forms of cancer since 2016, along with two preschool-age children that live near the school, and a former student, who was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 22. The parents of Prime and Ferrulli believe the Sprint cell phone tower located on campus might have played a role, even though tests reveal it's functioning normally and emitting radiation below the government standard. "It is classified as a possible carcinogen. That tells us that there is some evidence out there. We're not naive to the fact that there could be other components out there — other environmental influences... but the bottom line that we feel in regards to this tower is it doesn't belong there... if there's any indications that it’s unsafe," Monica Ferrulli told CBS News There are basically five primary sources of dangerous EMF that surround you on a daily basis: Electric Fields Magnetic Fields Power Lines Metal Plumbing Wireless Communications Let’s dive further in... These are the fields that emanate from anything that has voltage; basically anything electric, such as lamps, electrical wiring, outlets, extension cords, electrical appliances, and power outlets. Electric fields can affect electrical communication in your body, such as your brainwaves, or the ability of your neurons to fire and communicate. It can also impede inter-cell communication anywhere in your body. Health problems that can manifest as a result of this type of exposure include neurological- and behavioral changes, altered cell growth, cell mutations, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and even cancer. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has labeled magnetic fields a class 3 carcinogen. These fields can occur when there is an imbalance in the electrical wiring, and around electrical motors such as the motor in your refrigerator. A MAJOR source of magnetic fields is next to the main power meter for your house. You definitely want to avoid sleeping up against a wall that has a power meter on the outside. Electric clock radios can also generate magnetic fields. Fortunately, the effect drops off dramatically with distance, so simply putting some distance—typically about five or six feet—between yourself and the source is usually sufficient to drastically reduce or eliminate the danger. This includes wireless power meters (so-called SmartMeters), cell phones, cell towers, wireless routers, and cordless phones. Most of these types of technologies expose you to both electric and magnetic fields. Unfortunately, these wireless communication networks are only getting stronger, which could mean even more trouble. Unlike the 4G technology currently in use, which relies on 90-foot cell towers with about a dozen antenna ports on each, the 5G system uses "small cell" facilities or bases, each with about 100 antenna ports. The 5G, or "5th Generation," wireless network is the latest generation of mobile technologies that the industry is rallying behind, touting it as a way to create faster internet and streaming services, provide better cell phone coverage and even create "vibrant 'smart' cities" with reduced commute times and energy usage and improved public safety courtesy of smart grid efficiencies. 5G technology relies primarily on the bandwidth of the millimeter-wave (MMW), which is primarily between 30 gigahertz (GHz) and 300GHz. The MMW is known to penetrate 1 to 2 millimeters of human skin tissue and has been linked to a number of potential health problems, including: -Eye problems -Impacted heart rate variability and arrhythmias -Pain -Suppressed immune functions -Depressed growth and increased antibiotic resistance in bacteria While it may seem like the dangers of EMF are everywhere you turn, there are measures you can take to protect yourself. Using your laptop computer on your lap is, paradoxically, not a safe way to use it. Just as research is emerging showing that cell phones should not actually be held right next to your head (for instance, the iPhone manual states the phone must be at least 5/8 inch away from your body or ear for "safe operation"), research is showing that spending long hours with a laptop on your lap - the use for which it is intended - is likely harmful. You may be able to lessen EMF exposure during laptop use by using an external keyboard (as even typing on your laptop may expose you to high EMFs) and only using it while it’s battery-powered, not while plugged in, as the power supply from a laptop induces strong electric current densities. After measuring the EMF exposure produced, researchers found EMF values were within the guidelines put forth by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), but "considerably higher than the values recommended,” they found: "When close to the body, the laptop induces currents that are within 34.2% to 49.8% ICNIRP recommendations, but not negligible, to the adult's body and to the fetus (in pregnant women). On the contrary, the power supply induces strong intracorporal electric current densities in the fetus and in the adult subject, which are respectively 182-263% and 71-483% higher than ICNIRP 98 basic restriction recommended to prevent adverse health effects." If you're a man who uses a laptop often, and you would like to have children in the future, or simply protect your reproductive health, consider this a warning published in the journal Fertility and Sterility: "We speculate that keeping a laptop connected wirelessly to the internet on the lap near the testes may result in decreased male fertility." Connect your desktop computer to the internet via a wired Ethernet connection and be sure to put your desktop in airplane mode. Also avoid wireless keyboards, trackballs, mice, game systems, printers, and portable house phones and opt for wired versions. If you must use Wi-Fi, shut it off when not in use, especially at night when you are sleeping. Ideally, work toward hardwiring your house so you can eliminate Wi-Fi altogether. If you have a notebook without any Ethernet ports, a USB Ethernet adapter will allow you to connect to the internet with a wired connection. Shut off the electricity to your bedroom at night. This typically works to reduce electrical fields from the wires in your wall unless there is an adjoining room next to your bedroom. If that is the case, use an EMF meter to determine if you need to power down the adjacent room. Use a battery-powered alarm clock, ideally one without any light. Avoid carrying your cellphone on your body unless in airplane mode and never sleep with it in your bedroom unless it is in airplane mode. When using your cellphone, use the speakerphone and hold the phone away from you. Seek to radically decrease your time on the cellphone. Use your cell phone only where reception is good. The weaker the reception, the more power your phone must use to transmit, and the more power it uses, the more radiation it emits, and the deeper the dangerous radio waves penetrate into your body. Ideally, you should only use your phone with full bars and good reception. Avoid carrying your phone on your body as that merely maximizes any potential exposure. Ideally, put it in your purse or carrying bag. Placing a cell phone in a shirt pocket over the heart is asking for trouble, as is placing it in a man's pocket if he seeks to preserve his fertility. In addition to reducing your exposure, you should also prepare your body accordingly. Start with intestinal care, by making sure you’re getting plenty of healthy probiotics.
